Robert Herndon Todd Is Named First Executive Director of the Laurens County Community Foundation
The Laurens County Community Foundation, a public charity, recently benefited from designated private contributions and has employed Robert H. (Robin) Todd as its first paid executive director, according to George Love, current board chairman. Todd began his duties on January 5, 2009.
He is a native of Laurens and is married to the former Elizabeth McMaster Harrison of Greenwood. His parents' families have lived in Laurens for several generations. Todd graduated from Wofford College and spent 26 years in banking with posts in Columbia, Orangeburg, Clinton, and Laurens. He retired as Senior Vice President with Carolina First in 2000. During his business career he graduated from Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University.
Todd has served on the boards of The United Way, Laurens County Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts, Laurens YMCA, Laurens County Health Care Trust, and 100 Club, and was a member of Leadership Laurens Class II. He is a former chairman of the City of Laurens Historic Preservation Commission, and is currently serving on the board of The Governor's Mansion Commission.
"The Foundation was established in 2003 and allows the philanthropic giver to set asside a sum of money, which will provide funds in perpetuity for charitable purposes, designated by the giver, to benefit Laurens County primarily," Love explained.
The Foundation currently manages 18 such funds with assets nearing $2.5 million.
